Frequently asked questions

What kind of matching does this do?
Literal, case-insensitive term matching after removing common stopwords — not a semantic or AI match. This is a deliberately simple, honest model of the crudest thing a keyword-match feature does. Real ATS ranking algorithms vary by vendor and may use stemming, synonyms, or weighting this tool doesn't attempt to replicate.
Why are some obviously-related words treated as different keywords?
Because matching is literal, "managed" and "management" count as different terms. Read the missing-keyword list as a prompt to check your wording, not as a literal checklist to copy verbatim.
Can the matched list be wrong?
Yes — matching is one word at a time, so a two-word skill like "machine learning" is compared as "machine" and "learning" separately. Both can show as matched even if your resume never uses that exact phrase, so always double-check the matched list too, not just the missing one.
Should I just stuff in every missing keyword?
No — only add a keyword if it's actually true of your experience. Keyword-stuffing irrelevant terms can hurt more than it helps once a human reads the resume.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
